As a Detroit kid with an engineer father who worked for GM alternating his time between the (GM) Tech Center (as I knew it) and the iconic Plant 21, I was acutely aware of cars and how they ended up in the nation’s driveways. Trips to my Grandma’s house in Hamtramck were punctuated with more than a few car carriers heading off to somewhere loaded with brand new shiny vehicles. All of this to say cars are important in Detroit.

That’s why this week you’ll find the Detroit Auto Show a featured player in our publication and podcast — including an interview I had with Ed Perosky from Aisin Corporation. Cars and their emerging technology have always been a big part of my life, from the first time my Dad brought a car home with “Cruise Control” to the incredible computerized machines I saw this week during Media and Industry Days at the show.
