My father was an engineer and a Science fiction fan. I was exposed to that combination of loves early on, and would sit with my dad and watch what Captain Kirk was up to this week. As soon as I saw the asteroid article in this week’s Global Auto Mobility, my mind started churning.Â
The article itself takes a look at planetary defense, but Cap. Kirk and I say “why not land a probe on that asteroid and let it take an interplanetary road trip?”
Asteroid Apophis is set to whisk by Earth in 2029. Scientists believe it is time to build out a path for planetary defense.
