Michigan Utility Halts New Data Center Water Hookups For 12 Months

The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) approved a 12‑month halt on new water and sewer service commitments to hyperscale and mid-size data centers, AI computing facilities, and high-performance computational centers. This decision, requested by Ypsilanti Township, applies to all communities in its service area and aims to allow for updated environmental and water system studies before committing resources to such facilities.
