The Boring Company announced that Baltimore, Dallas and New Orleans have won its Tunnel Vision Challenge and will each receive a privately funded one‑mile underground tunnel, while the firm also details its existing projects and future plans.
Three major U.S. cities could soon have a new, privately funded underground tunnel for commuters.
The Boring Company, a tunnel startup founded by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, announced Tuesday, March 24 it selected Baltimore, Dallas and New Orleans as winners of its Tunnel Vision Challenge – a competition that kicked off in January in which winners receive a one-mile underground tunnel for use including a Loop and pedestrian traffic.
The three cities beat out 487 entries from across the nation, according to a post on X from Boring, which said it plans to fund and build all three tunnels.
