It takes about an hour and a half for the beeping Dexory robot to sort inventory stored in the cramped shelves of Stellantis’ massive Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP). For a human to do the same job, it would take 280 hours.
The Dexory robot — a sleek, gliding, AI-powered bot fitted with cameras, scanners and LiDAR sensors — has been put to work in four Stellantis facilities since late 2024, with plant managers and parts specialists saying it is dramatically boosting efficiency and making the plant run more smoothly.
