Miami is putting the future of law enforcement on wheels, rolling out the nation’s first AI-powered patrol car.
On Thursday, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) unveiled “PUG,” an AI-powered police cruiser they’re calling a “gamechanger.” According to MDSO, the vehicle can operate fully autonomously, but will be occupied by a deputy for the first few months. PUG– an acronym for Police Unmanned Ground– will be the only vehicle of its kind on the road in the country.
“I think it’s a game changer,” said MDSO Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz. “For us, it’s a way that we can touch our community in a way that we really have never done before, and we are setting the standard for what will be the future of law enforcement for this country.”
