The combination of advanced robotics and advanced artificial intelligence should be the perfect platform for advanced materials, says engineering resin supplier Envalior.
Envalior — the joint venture of Lanxess AG and Royal DSM NV created in 2023 — is working with SENTimotion and Frencken Group to produce gearboxes for robot arms made using Stanyl-brand nylon 4/6. The boxes are about 50 percent lighter than metal alternatives and can be injection molded at about a 50 percent lower production cost, making them ideal for the expected rapid growth of AI-equipped robots.
