General Motors Co. has signed a multibillion-dollar deal with Norway-based graphite manufacturer Vianode for materials for electric-vehicle batteries. The deal comes as GM looks to boost EV profitability.
The agreement “covers development of large-scale manufacturing capacity and supply of synthetic anode graphite towards 2033,” Vianode said in a statement.
The move comes as costs are dropping for EV batteries, a trend driven by improvements in battery technologies and an increased volume of batteries entering the market.
