Alef Aeronautics unveiled its flying car to the public for the first time. The car was showcased at the Mobile World Congress (WMC) in Barcelona and was certainly one of the most popular displays this year.

Based in California, Alef Aeronautics has been working on its flying car since 2015. The company aims to manufacture cars capable of vertical takeoff landing and flying through the air, in addition to driving on roads.

To this end, Alef’s “Model A,” has already acquired a first-of-its-kind Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) certification back in 2023.

“It’s really a flying car like the one you know from science fiction,” says Constantine Kisly, Chief Technology Officer for Alef Aeronautics.

“So it drives and flies. So why should it have a flying option? That’s how you can use it efficiently, how we can drive efficiently without traffic. So why drive? Driving option is the goal not to change existing infrastructure,” he added.
