Hitchi Astemo, Comcast Business, and Fontaine Modification sponsored Global Auto Mobility’s Powering Electric Vehicles event, May 24 at Lawrence Technological University. The panel discussion addressed questions like: what will it take to power these vehicles?  How long will it take? What will it cost? How far can I drive? Will the grid really hold up? What is the impact on the environment?

Matt Roush moderated an expert panel made up of:

  • Todd England, Sr. Director of Enterprise Sales at Comcast Business
  • Charlie Tyson, Technology Activation Director at Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification
  • Todd Remtema, Group Manager of Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation at Toyota Motor North America Research and Development
  • Jim Castellano, Vice President Design Engineering xEV at Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc.

The event culminated with the inaugural Global Auto Mobility Industry Innovation Award. The honor went to David E. Cole, PhD., Chair Emeritus of the Center for Automotive Research. The event organizers and sponsors recognized Cole’s long and distinguished career, ranging from his time at the University of Michigan Engineering School, to his years leading and growing the Center for Automotive Research, and his time launching and leading Auto Harvest.

“Dr. Cole has been a key innovator and leader in an industry that has seen great change over the decades. Through it all, David has built a reputation as a creative, inventive problem solver,” said Dan Keelan, Global Auto Mobility publisher, in announcing the award.
